My Students
Everyday I open my door to students who come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of experiences and languages into the classroom. In my classroom alone there are about 12 different languages spoken at home. This makes teaching reading and language a very important part of my day. I am teach in Houston, Texas at a Title I school, which 98% of my students are economically disadvantage.
My school and my students were deeply affected by Hurricane Harvey, this past year, and even though our city is slowly recovering, my school and my students are still dealing with the personal and emotional affects of Hurricane Harvey.
It is my responsibility to not let these barriers define my students. It is my responsibility to create a fun and positive environment to encourage my student to learn daily.
My students are always excited to learn and they work hard every day to meet their personal and school wide goals.
My Project
"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach them to learn by creating curiosity, you will create life long learners." All of our students want to learn, and each student learns at their own pace. By contributing to my classroom, you will be help my students grow into amazing readers and writers.
With materials like notebooks, markers, tape, and pencils, you will be allowing them to learn and grow as independent readers and writers.
These materials will promote comprehension as it allows my scholars to participate in inquiry based learning and a more engaging learning experience. I have also requested two rolling utility carts to help with classroom organization.
