My students need cooperative board games (The Fairy Game, Dinosaur Escape, and Mermaid Island) for our busy Pre-K classroom to help promote sharing, cooperation and working together as a team.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are so excited about learning. They are so energetic and curious just about everything. Every day is like an adventure in our classroom. I teach at a Title I school where the students receive 100% free breakfast and lunch. Most are in single-family homes and live in high poverty areas.
I have students who learn best when they are actively involved as they play, explore, experiment, discover, and create.
I actively engage my students thinking processes and encourage them to use their questioning, investigating and problem solving skills to help them learn.
My Project
There is nothing more exciting than watching my students play with board games! My only frustration is when only one person is a winner and I see the disappointment in the faces of the student who do not win.
The Peaceable Kingdom board games that I am asking for will allow my students to work together as a team, it will encourage them to help each other, take turns and work together toward a common goal in which they all will win or lose together.
Engineering Ants is a cooperative game where the players take turns rolling a die to move the shared engineering ant token around the board in search of blocked ants. The players work together to build something that will help the blocked ant get around obstacles. If the players free all three blocked ants before the anteater token arrives at the central anthill, then the players win.
Along with Bunny Bedtime, Buzz! The Bizzy Buzzy Beat the Bear and The Great Cheese Chase Cooperative board games will help my students to learn to share and cooperate together and the stress of losing goes away because they are playing as a team against a common obstacle and not against each other.
It would be so nice to get The Memory Palace, Mermaid Island and Fish Stix just to add a few, that do not require competition between players but promotes cooperation instead. Game time during math workshop would be fun for everyone and teach
