Ms. Mendenhall from Port Allen LA is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need three 20 drawer organizers to keep all of their class supplies and materials in one place.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are self-driven to learn in every occasion they are presented. They are constantly looking for ways to make learning more engaging and fun. As a teacher to half of the students on campus I enjoy being able to bring so many learning opportunities into the classroom. The biggest challenge is providing them with those valuable resources to keep students motivated, organized, engaged with high-level, real world learning experiences. My students bring many talents, skills, and prior knowledge to my classroom every day. I want to be able to harness those talents, skills, and knowledge to help them thrive in our learning environment and ultimately in the real world.
My students are looking for various ways to understand how natural occurrences apply to the knowledge they learn in the classroom and in turn how all that applies to their own life.
For a lot of them, school is one of the best and only places to experience the learning opportunities that help them flourish. We provide them with the academics to build their knowledge but are unable to provide them with a variety of tools or resources they need to expand their thinking.
The Mobile Organizer requested in this project will help my students learn simple, but very important organizational skills. As I teach my students science I want to also enforce some very important life skills that they can use as they move on into high school. Many of our students need these simple skills and I want to provide a place for them to begin learning them. With these drawers students will have the opportunity to organize their own class work, their rewards earned in class, and so much more. During the school year students will be responsible for taking care of their drawer and possibly have the responsibility of sharing a drawer with another student.
